Spontaneous Muscle Release Technique (SMRT) is a bodywork technique that uses passive contraction to gently dissolve tension or adhesion in muscles and access deep-lying tissues that are otherwise inaccessible or painful to access. It's a fantastic compliment to perinatal massage, because you are able to affect deep tissue structures in a safe manner.

Although licensed by the state of Arizona for Massage Therapy, which requires continuing education to re-certify every two years, our scope of practice as LMTs does not include extended instruction for exercise. Many massage therapists become CPTs in order to continue to guide clients on movement strategies that will enable them to avoid and change movement patterns that cause pain in the body. Certified Personal Trainers in the state of Arizona are required to take continuing education based in their exercise and movement education, but we are not licensed, and a licensing body does not exist. Continuing education that is required at the massage licensing level DOES have a massage board and a licensing body that all LMTs must adhere to in order to maintain a legal license. The combination of both is ideal, as clients can feel secure knowing that there is an additional layer of required education both every two years.
