Roots to Bloom and COVID-19
Temporarily Closing until April 1st - An Opportunity for Social Solidarity

We are in unprecedented and challenging times.

As the COVID-19 situation has been developing, I have been consistently hyper-aware and following all agencies of trusted sources while offering massage services to the public.

In a matter of days, my thought process has expanded exponentially, similar to the virus itself:

Limiting sessions to perinatal only> finishing up the month > closing the booking system and finishing out the schedule on the books > considering home visits/home studio visits as options > temporarily closing the practice until April 1st.

The last conclusion of my thought process has been a very difficult decision to do MY part in flattening the curve to protect the sensitive nature and unknown repercussions to my clients, as well as for the greater good of all.

After reading and considering all the potential implications of NOT immediately employing social distancing - I feel strongly that it would be unethical to continue to offer services in a situation where I cannot personally guarantee the universal standards of hygiene (and additional efforts) while operating my practice in a collective space.

The unknowns surrounding COVID-19 and how it affects pregnant individuals, breastfeeding and infants have greatly impacted my decision. Additionally, Centerline Movement and their difficult decision to also close temporarily solidified for me the local and extended community opportunity to contribute to the greater good of all of us.

WHAT IS HAPPENING NOW?
  • Roots to Bloom will be temporarily closed until April 1st, 2020
  • The online booking system is CLOSED for all online booking and purchases until re-evaluation on April 1st.
  • ALL MEMBERSHIP sessions left for March will be cancelled, and the credits added to your accounts.
  • ALL AUTO BILLING moving forward will be suspended/paused until re-evaluation on April 1st.  The resuming of auto-billing will be addressed to each individual member before any action is taken.
  • All non-member sessions will be moved to the month of April and beyond. You may also do this yourself by signing into your account. The credit is added back onto your account.
  • All credits on accounts have NO EXPIRATION date. Any cancellations will immediately be converted to a credit on your account.

WHAT'S NEXT?
  • A resource page for all members and current/past clients is in the works.
  • A resource guide for parenting outside the mainstream and during these difficult times is in the making. This will include ways we can reach out in community solidarity while practicing physical distancing, and support each other both at the hyper-local and to a global level.

WAYS YOU CAN HELP!
  • Strongly consider immediately employing social distancing practices NOW, or as soon as possible.
  • Commit to monitoring trustworthy information and news sources to make INFORMED CHOICES when seeking out any services that involve close contact. ASK THE HARD questions of any provider.
  • Consider with kindness and compassion all the people who are most vulnerable in these times: pregnant and nursing, the elderly, the self-employed, the service workers who are still working to serve us in all areas, our healthcare workers, public servants, military and first responders.

This decision to close was NOT MADE LIGHTLY! As a self-employed independent contractor, my work is my passion and I offer it without the traditional safety nets of robust healthcare choices, extended savings, paid sick leave or vacation. This decision was, quite frankly, terrifying to make and will make a drastic impact on my livelihood.

Yet, I still believe it is the right thing to do.

Let's work together to flatten the curve of this thing, and find new ways to see each other in our vulnerable places and support each other at the local and global level.

In gratitude,

Jaimie - please, please send email me to ask any questions, share information and concerns: info@prenatalmassagetucson.com

April 1, 2020 - Roots to Bloom remains on hiatus until May 1st 2020, in accordance with the new shelter-in-place mandates set forth by the State of Arizona. Roots to Bloom took the initiative on March 15, 2020, believing that it was important to be part of flattening the curve of the virus trajectory, even before the city, county, or state made this mandatory.

It is now common knowledge that being part of strict social distancing in regards to personal wellness services at the earliest possible time was the right thing to do.

It is an honor and a privilege to be considered an "essential service" for your self care. However, as LICENSED massage therapists, our scope of practice has never been one where we hold the responsibility for your health outcome. We are facilitators for wellness - holding space for your own ability to heal.

It will again be an honor to hold that space for you when it is appropriate and safe to do so!
